In a heartfelt display of unity and school pride, Libertas Academy Boiling Springs hosted a flag raising ceremony on September 6, 2024, which brought together students, faculty, and community members. The event aimed to foster a sense of patriotism and togetherness, while celebrating the new school facility, and most importantly, the values that makes Libertas Academy special to so many families in the community.
The ceremony began with a welcome address by School Director Celina Patton, who emphasized the significance of the flag as a symbol of both national pride and the school’s commitment to excellence. "Today, as we raise our flag, we honor not only our country but the values we stand for here at Libertas Academy – academic excellence, integrity, respect, and community," said Celina Patton.
The event included participation from the school’s student body leading the Pledge of Allegiance, and also community leaders, such as SC State Senator (District 11) Josh Kimbrell, Superintendent of the Charter Institute at Erskine Cameron Runyan, as well as the Chair-Elect of the SC Board of Education, the Honorable Rita Allison. The school’s choir also performed a moving rendition of the national anthem.
Parents, members of the Libertas Academy Board of Directors, and other local officials were also in attendance, making the event a true community affair. Many attendees spoke of the importance of teaching young people the significance of the flag and instilling a sense of civic responsibility, as well as academic achievement and hard work.
The event concluded with a school tour of the new facility. The three flags, now proudly flying over Libertas Academy Boiling Springs, serves as a daily reminder of the school’s values, the strength of the community that supports it, and most importantly the school's commitment to academic excellence.
